Despite efforts and investments made for africain agriculture in the framework of policies in the various countries in order to reach food self-sufficiency, agricultural resources are still far from meeting the needs of the populations.
In order to solve this problem, agricultural policies have been developed at national level (GOANA - Vast Offensive for Agricultural Abundance and Food) in Senegal, at sub regional level PAU (UEMOA's Agricultural Policy) have been implemented for the development of this vital sector of the african economy and for poverty control.
Also, even though knowledge on production techniques is well known and harnessed by the population, African agriculture is still suffering nowadays from problems of under equipment, not only for production, but mainly for processing, storing, adequate packaging in compliance with international standards which open doors of the market, in order to gain financial resources.
